Set the Timing on KIA Sportage by Lauren Wills
Fixing an oil leak on a Kia Sportage can be an extremely difficult job or a fairly easy one, depending on where the leak is located. Knowing some of the basics of how to change and replace gaskets and seals will help save you time and money. It is important to keep the oil in your Sportage at the appropriate level to keep your engine running smoothly and increase its lifespan.
Slide the old belt off of the pulleys and then slide the new belt onto the pulleys in the same pattern as the old belt. Turn the serpentine belt tensioner clockwise again and slip the belt over the tensioner pulley.
The scanner was designed for compatibility with a host of electronic parts and electrical systems. The tool accomplishes DTC reading and explanation, DTC erasing, live time current data in digits and graphic modes. The scanner also handles manual data item grouping on the display, actuation testing, item graphic view, and has a current data recording function.

Find the distributor lock-down bolt at the base of the distributor housing. Use a wrench to loosen it and disconnect the distributor vacuum hose from the distributor housing. Plug the distributor vacuum hose into the electronic spark computer and ground the engine test terminal. You can ground the engine test terminals placing the red clamps on the terminals and the black clamps on the ground.
Drive your SUV around the block and let it warm up to operating temperature. This will thin out the oil, making it easier to drain. Place a catch pan underneath the oil pan plug. Unscrew the oil plug and use an oil filter wrench to unscrew the oil filter. Wait for the oil to drain then reinsert the oil plug and screw on a new oil filter. Open the cap on the valve cover and use a funnel to pour in oil with a thicker grade to help reduce leaks.
The 2002 Kia Sportage sport utility vehicle has an economical 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The internal combustion engine’s ignition timing determines when a spark will occur to start the engine. You should periodically check the ignition timing of your engine to get the most out of it. The 2002 Kia Sportage has two factory recommended ignition times: four degrees after top dead center, and six degrees before top dead center. You can set the timing with a few tools and basic mechanical skills, but be careful not to damage the engine.
The Kia Sportage seats five individuals and has 39.6 inches of front headroom, 38.2 inches of rear headroom and 41.3 inches of front legroom. The rear legroom measures at 31 inches, while the front shoulder room measures at 54.3 inches. Front hip room is 52.5 inches, while rear hip room calculates at 40.9 inches.
