What You Need To Know About Purchasing Refrigerators
Refrigerator manufacturers and brand names come and they go and often one company becomes part of another manufacturing company and it’s brand name lives on but, the actual product may not be the same as you remember. Such is the case with Maytag Refrigerators. The Maytag company began in 1893 and became one of the leading producers of quality washing machines. In 1946 the company introduced it’s first refrigerator and in 1989 it manufactured a complete line of Maytag Refrigerator to match the lines of other appliances that the company manufactured.
While Maytag Refrigerator Parts were popular their popularity never quite reached the height of their washing machines designed for home use but, it was not because the company did not take a lead in innovations in the refrigerator industry. Maytag was one of the first companies to come out with a French door design as well as a cabinet depth refrigerator and external ice and water features, all features which are sought after in refrigerators today.
In the year 2007 the Maytag company was absorbed into the Whirlpool corporation. This in turn caused some big changes to happen with the refrigerator line. There were a number of Maytag factories that closed down and that Maytag name was re-branded under Whirlpool appliances. In fact, the Whirlpool company makes a number of different refrigerators that are under a different brand names such as their own.
Maytag refrigerators nowadays will come in all sorts of sizes, styles, functions, shapes, and prices. Some models will have a side by side styles, french door styles, and some with either bottom freezers or top freezers. There are a number of models that have easy glide shelves and even spill catchers to make the job of cleaning a lot easier.
The funny thing is a lot of consumers of these products do not even realize that Maytag Refrigerators and now solely being made by the Whirlpool company. This company will often compare both product lines with the different brand names. Many consumers have their loyalties to Maytag and continue buying from this line without knowing who really owns it.
While often when one company buys out another company, they do so in order to sell higher and lower end models of the same product and therefore hope to get the largest piece of the market by making one name brand far superior to another this does not seem to be the case with the Whirlpool corporation and their purchase of Maytag, the quality of both products seems to be comparable at least in the eyes of most consumers.
The truth is that some brand names stick in consumers minds more than others and in many cases consumers return to products they have tried in the past and liked which may be one reason why brand names like Maytag Refrigerator parts are kept even when the companies are sold. People often are creatures of habit who are slow to accept change and giving them a brand name they know and trust regardless of the company that actually manufacturers the product just may be good business in the refrigerator and all other industries.
