How to Build Your Very Own Electric Motor Bicycle

1. First, you have to find out if your bike can be converted into an electric one. You can do this by refering to the manual that comes with the electric bike motor conversion kit you have. You also need to make sure if your electric motor properly fits your bike.

2. After that, you need to strip down the bike of all its unnecessary accessories. You have to bring it down to its bare minimum.

3. Next, you have to remove the front wheel of your bike. Do this by turning the bike upside down, then releasing all the air from the tire. You then have to unscrew the axle nuts of the wheel to completely remove it from the frame. When doing this, be extra careful as to not damage the brakes.

4. Once the wheel is removed, you now have to install the new front wheel that comes with the conversion kit. This new front wheel have wires attach to the that will connect to the battery pack of the motor. 5. After that, you have to mount the battery pack. The place where you should put them may vary depending on the model type of the conversion kit you have. But most battery packs for electric motor kits use the rear axle and seat clamp as support.

6. Once the battery pack is in place, you now have to mount the controllers. Though there are some variations on this part of the kit, they usually go below the handlebars or under the seat rack. You can install the controller either by using zip ties or bungee cables.

7. Next, install the throttle. Do this by removing the right handlebar grip. You just have to slide the throttle over the handlebar and tighten them using a wrench.

8. Once that is done, you need to run the wires and connect them properly to the motor and controllers. You shouls also connect them to the throttle. Refer to the manual to ensure that all wirings are on their proper places. Use zip ties to tame the wires so that they won’t be in the way when you finally start riding your bike. Lastly, you have to connect the wires to the battery to complete the circuit.

9. To ensure everything is in their proper places, test the ignition of the motor. If you follow all the steps properly, you will start riding your electric bike in no time.
